Exhibition Statement
My exhibition statement basically just describes my garment and what it was based on. It also describes the colour and type of material used and how I used it.
Newsletter
I created this newsletter on the trips and projects from this year. I chose my favourite trips and wrote about what happened on the trips and why we went. I also wrote about the Circus Cabaret project and the short induction project at the beginning of the year.

Work
Experience
September
2012 to present: Waitress at The Gallows pub, Milnrow.
·
I like this job because it has helped my confidence
and communication skills grow as I have to take people’s orders and take food
out to tables.
·
This job has also helped with my timing skills and
team work skills as I have to work around other waitresses and chefs and also
have to manage table bookings.
My
interests are reading and drawing and I am studying fashion as my aim is to be
a costume designer. I am also currently looking for work experience in The
Royal Exchange Theatre to get more experience with costume design.
Personal Statement
Currently, I am studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in
Fashion at Oldham College, my predicted grade is DDD. This course has helped me
gain an insight into the world of fashion and the construction and design of
clothing however I wish to gain a deeper knowledge of this and hope to do so by
progressing on to the second year of the course. Previously I studied at
Hollingworth Business and Enterprise College where I achieved 10 GCSE’s grade B
and above and also achieved an iGCSE at a grade A. These grades include
Textiles, Maths and English.
In the past I have
volunteered behind stage at a local Christmas performance helping out with
costumes and makeup, this was helpful as the career path I wish to take will
lead to being a costume designer for the theatre. I also maintain a job as a
waitress at the local pub, this doesn’t help me to gain any skills to do with
the course however it does help with my communication and confidence skills
which will be needed when dealing with clients in the future.
My favourite part of the college course so far was the Circus
Cabaret as I got to research deep into the wacky costumes used in the circus
and create my own extravagant piece. I created a caged skirt and corset with a
gothic theme based on the burlesque aspect of the circus. I also included
prints which I created in textiles that were based on Cirque du Soleil patterns
and Kandinsky’s circle work. The catwalk was a huge hit and everybody’s
families came to watch. It also gave us an opportunity to work with drama
students, as our models, the photography students for our photo shoots and the
hair and beauty students.
I wish to progress onto a Costume Design course in university
as it will broaden my knowledge on the way to think more imaginatively and
design costumes that fit specifically to the character in the performance. I
also wish to learn the correct vocabulary needed in able for me to communicate
with people in a similar trade so that I can progress through the industry. I
am suitable for the course as I am hard working, imaginative and have been interested
in costume design for years. I also pick up things quickly so have already
gained the knowledge to construct simple garments and develop them using
textile techniques.
